Celtic Engagement Rings Show Love and Commitment

Celtic engagement rings offer a unique style and personality that can't be found on other modern ring designs. Celtic rings contain very ornate and beautiful, intricate designs that symbolize commitment and love.

Many of the Celtic ring designs have patterns that include series of knots and patterns that have no beginning or end. These designs represent the never ending cycle of love-- the true commitment between two people that are ready to join together and spend the rest of their lives in love. It is more than just a simple commitment of two people, the Celtic engagement ring represents a union of heart and mind.

The term "tying the knot" actually originates back to Celtic wedding rings. When someone is talking about tying the knot, it refers to the Celtic knot rings that contain the symbol of love and commitment. It is believed that presenting a bride with a Celtic ring is the purest way to show love and commitment.

Additionally, many Celtic rings contain other symbolic features such as animals and crosses. These symbols contain religious meaning for many Christians.

There are many Celtic designs available to choose from, so you can be sure to find a design that matches the taste and preference of the bride. Also, you will know that your Celtic wedding will be both unique and sentimental.

If you are looking for a way to show your bride the deepest love and commitment, consider presenting her with a Celtic engagement ring. These beautiful pieces of art contain history, symbolism and character. Celtic rings are the perfect way to seal the love and emotion that you share together.

Gold Body Piercing Jewelry

If your body rejects your new piercing, normally this is due to a reaction from your body to the kind of jewelery used in the piercing. The most common reason for this rejection is allergy. Your body does not accept the foreign body, and in this case there is little or nothing you can do aside from cleaning and taking care of the piercing. If that doesn't work, as a last resource you should remove the jewelery and let the wound heal. Later on you can try again using jewelery made of better quality metal.

The quality of the metal used is the most important factor in these cases of piercing rejection. The best material you can use is surgical stainless steel or gold (not lower than 14 carats, and if possible, 18 carats) and platinum. Right now the metal most widely used in piercing is good quality surgical stainless steel which is the best way to avoid your body rejecting the piercing.

An easy way to check out if the jewelery you are planning to buy for your piercing is surgical stainless steel or not, is to take a little magnet with you (for example a fridge magnet). Good quality surgical stainless steel and good quality gold jewelery are not magnetic, so if when you touch the jewelery with your magnet it sticks to the magnet, don't buy it, because it is a low quality piece of jewelery made of some other kind of metal (like iron) which will most likely be rejected by your body. Good quality surgical stainless steel and gold definitely are NON MAGNETIC and although this doesn't give you a 100% guarantee, it is unlikely that your body will reject the piercing.

After the wound is completely healed, you can try a fancier and lower quality piece of jewelery, but if after a time you see redness or an infection begins to appear, the best thing to do is to remove the piece and replace it with a good quality surgical stainless steel piece of jewelery and take care of the skin with an appropriate disinfectant, recommended by the piercer.

If you notice that your body rejects even a good quality piece of jewelery, talk to your piercer who can advise you about other alternatives you can try for your particular kind of skin.

If the piece of jewelery has some kind of plastic in its composition, you must be sure to use it in a piercing that is already healed, because this kind of jewelery can cause infection in a fresh piercing. If the jewellery is made of colored surgical stainless steel, that's OK as long as it is good quality, because the color is involved in the chemical reaction that takes place when the jewellery is created.

Piercing is a mark of personal style, creativeness and an expression of uniqueness as well as a way of enjoying beautiful jewellery. Today it is one of the fastest growing trends as a way of embellishing the body. Studs, rings and chains for every part of the body (belly button, eyebrows, tongue, nose, toes, and ears) are designed to add a touch of style, make a fashion statement or follow trends set by celebrities.

Grey - This Season's New Black and How to Make it Work For You!

Grey is an ideal accessory color. It goes well with everything, from black, white, ivory, crimson, forest green, mustard yellow and deep purple to name a few. So many colors in your wardrobe can easily be complimented by grey accessories. Grey is a subtle and sophisticated accessory. One of the best things about grey is that in a crowd of women wearing all black accessories, you'll stand out as the trend setter! Wearing grey accessories looks more feminine and contemporary. You'll be pleased when you select grey accessories to compliment any outfit.

Add a grey bag. The largest accessory most women carry is their handbag. Choose a handbag that stands out from the crowd and gets you noticed in a way that impresses others. Choose a grey handbag, tote or clutch to compliment your wardrobe. The ideal suggestion is to look for your favorite style or shape of a bag and then to simply select a grey bag instead of another color. While metallic bags have become popular - try what some would consider the metallic grey - silver. You can even find a beautiful pewter color that has a more deeper commitment to the grey color than silver, and this is an ideal color for your bag.

Try a grey-toned scarf to compliment your day's wardrobe. This is a great choice, as it brings today's favorite color grey into any clothing combination you've selected. Scarves can really change your look. Add to this scarf a stunning pin to attach the scarf to your blouse, sweater or dress. A vintage style pin reminds us of a more romantic time, and keeps with our current costume jewellery trends. The best way to match a scarf to an outfit is to look for a scarf that includes some colors from that outfit along with the grey color. You can find many patterns and prints in scarves and women's jewellery that will easily compliment your look.

Popular Tattoo Designs and Meanings - Choosing The Right Tattoo

Tattooing, a form of art and appreciation, has become the subject of exhibitions in museums and galleries all over the world. Peeling off from the past seedy and disreputable practice, it now exudes an air of respectability in the art arena where new tattoo artists have introduced many original ideas and influences, causing the repertoire of tattoo designs, or 'flash', to expand enormously and become much more adventurous. There are now so many different designs to choose from a tattoo gallery or entering a tattoo parlour. It can be rather an overwhelming experience for many.

Do people who submit themselves to the tattooist's needle actually pick out designs for their meanings or for their decorative properties? Obviously, some would have a vision of what sort of image they are after and also, more importantly, some idea of why they are having it done. Still, there are some who would very much like to adorn this form of body art but are still indecisive on the design for tattoo.

I always consider tattoo more than a form of art piece. It shares a life with its owner once it is inscribed onto the body part. It literally becomes alive. Tattoos come in different symbolic, spiritual and religious meanings. There are tattoos who are more inclined towards a particular gender. Woman often choose butterflies and flowers, presumably because they are pretty but maybe also because they are feminine. Woman often see their tattoos more as an ornamentation or permanent 'body jewellery', opting a pretty bracelet wrapped around the wrist.

Male tattoos tend to be identity symbols rather than decorative devices, with traditional images such as snakes, eagles, black panthers or skulls being particularly popular. Men are keener on dagger dripping blood or dragons breathing fire, traditionally masculine images which speak of strength and valour. The tattoo is a masterpiece of non-verbal communication.

Some of the messages the images convey are specific and intended only for a particular audience, while others are more generalized. In traditional japan, the royal household has been represented by the chrysanthemum, which has now taken on the connotations of determination and steadfastness. The peony, on the other hand, symbolizes wealth and good fortune. One of the most popular motif in the west and east is the dragon which combines fire and water to indicate power and true wisdom. In Thailand, it is not uncommon to see good fortune tattoos as they are said to protect the wearer from evil spirits.

Of course, the only factors that will really limit your choice of tattoo are the skill of tattooist you choose, your own imagination and the depth of your pocket. There are aplenty tattoo galleries online or offline but that does not stop you from personalizing your tattoo and making it unique and special to you.

The History of Jewelry

The name "jewelry" comes from the Latin word "jocale" meaning "plaything". The word "jewel" comes from the Old French word "joule". Today, Jewelry is synonymous with the words pretty, beautiful, and bling! Jewelry has been an essential item for mankind, just like clothing and food, since the beginning of existence. The earliest forms of jewelry were made by putting holes into the shells of mollusks and then stringing them. This was way back in the Middle Stone Age- 75000-100000 years ago! Jewelry became very widespread and used primarily for adornment about 40,000 years ago, when mankind started migrating and trading.

Jewellery has since evolved through the ages. The Celts used bronze in a lot of their jewelry. The Egyptians were famous for their use of Gold adorned with Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise, Carnelian and Enamels. They also used gemstone and glass beads. The Egyptians believed that jewelry possessed magical powers and brought good luck.

The Romans and Greeks were also known for their jewelry and the use of gold and silver to make coins. Romans loved wearing a ton of rings on the same finger and the use of Jet and coral, among other semi-precious gemstones. Jewelry was primarily worn by only the most upper class or to ward off evil. The Egyptians, Roman and Greeks made necklaces, bracelets and earrings a main-stay in fashion and art.

With the start of European explorations to other continents, Pearls started to become a status symbol. Semi-precious gemstones started to become more affordable for those that were not of royal blood lines. Today, Jewellery is still a status symbol, carries a religious significance, and is used to adorn oneself.

About Vintage Costume Jewelry and Its Cleaning

Like antique jewelry costume jewels are quite old dating back to the 1930s. Costume jewelry is also referred to as junk or disposable jewelry. Costume jewels are made of non precious materials and are disposed of after being used with a particular outfit. Since these articles are quite affordable, matching jewelry can be purchased with different outfits. Unlike antique jewelry, costume jewels are not passed on to generations. This fashionable jewelry comes in fashion for a period of time and then new designs replace the old ones. The designers of 1940s and 1950s have produced creative and eye catching designs of Vintage costume jewels for men and women and are relatively inexpensive yet fashionable and quite affordable.

The material used for making costume articles includes; cut glass, wood, leather, stones, and shells, plastic and other cheap metals. The use of cut glass became popular when the Romans imitated the precious gemstones by making cut glass stones. Wearing jewelry is a very old tradition and is a symbol of friendship, love and loyalty. The styles and designs of jewelry have changed. Vintage costume jewels have always been in fashion with bright and flashy jewel collection.

Vintage Jewels have unusual and beautiful designs. They are usually quite expensive but the gorgeous costume jewels are available at reasonable prices. Rhinestone and other non-precious stones are used in vintage rings, earrings, bracelets and other jewelry articles which makes them sparkling and more fascinating. The artificial stones are beautiful in their own way and they are quite similar to the real ones.

Vintage fashionable jewels can be highly valuable and so they can be a good investment for the collectors. The uniqueness, aesthetic value and superb craftsmanship make them popular collectible items. These jewelry items require proper cleaning and care. There are a plenty of products made for cleaning this type of jewelry. While cleaning your beautiful costume jewelry, you have to be very cautious. Using brushes with soft bristles or wooden toothpicks can be a good idea. Hair dryer, cotton swabs and towels can also be used to clean the costume pieces. Always avoid using water, vinegar or high concentrated cleaning agents. Water damages delicate stones and the polish. Prefer dry methods to clean the vintage costume jewels as it is quite safe. Use brushes to remove the dust from your jewels and to wipe away the fingerprints you can use a cotton swab with some mild cleaning solution.

Never use soap or water to clean vintage costume jewelry as soap makes the metal and the stones dull. If you don't want to lose the shine of your jewels then do not leave the jewelry wet. You must dry and clean the pieces thoroughly before and after using them. Always store your jewelry in a dry place because dampness can cause rust and other damages to your precious jewels. Keep your valuable jewelry in a jewelry box and take it out carefully when you want to wear it. Avoid rubbing the articles against each other as they can lose their luster. To prevent scratching always store different jewelry items in separate jewelry boxes.

Wedding Anniversary and a Gift Book

If birthday is most likely the significant occasion to a person, marriage anniversary is for couples who had been into several trials in their marital lives.

Wedding Anniversary

In commemorating the date of couples’ marriage, the partners usually spend time together, exchanging presents of real value. The token need not be expensive to acquire an appreciation. Even a small- personalized thing will do to cherish the moment when at the same period a few years ago, both partners exchanged vows in an altar or in the presence of the solemnizing officer.

Tradition had set that an occasion of celebrating a wedding anniversary is always associated with particular gifts depending on how far the marriage had gone. To name a few, for the first, fifth and tenth years, the gifts should be paper, wood, and tin respectively. With paper, wood or tin, the partner can already show off his or her artistic prowess to design something to it that would make the other partner happy.

Traditional Gifts

Maybe someone had already thought about making a personalized photo album or a gift book. This piece of advice shall not only give you an opportunity to flaunt your artistic side, but also to save you from other costly products that you thought would have sense to your partner, just because they are expensive. The real meaning of the gift giving is one that matters than its price, not unless the recipient is inherently materialistic. Obviously, the gift for a material person would become valuable only when it could give her advantages. Consider her an exception to the recommendation posed.

The hailed crystal anniversary on the fifteenth year of marriage is regarded as the first level that requires serious attention and that should be given proper recognition compared to those anniversary years prior to it. Sometime family members get together for some party celebration to take pleasure in the rejoicing of the couples who have reached far from their marriage. The next bigger thing to crystal anniversary is the silver anniversary on the twenty- fifth years. Subsequent to the silver is the golden anniversary of the husband and wife on the fiftieth years of togetherness. To most people, diamond anniversary is the most important among other anniversaries.

To reiterate, here are the traditional wedding anniversary gifts: (1) paper, (2) cotton or straw, (3) leather, (4) fruit and flowers or books, (5) wood, (6) sugar or iron, (7) woollen or copper, (8) bronze or pottery, (9) willow or pottery, (10) tin or aluminium, (11) steel, (12) silk or linen, (13) lace, (14) ivory, (15) crystal, (20) china, (25) silver, (30) pearl, (35) coral, (40) ruby, (45) sapphire, (50) gold, (55) emerald, (60, 70, and 75) diamond.

Modern Gifts

As time continues to evolve, subsequently there came another gift list that is known as the modern wedding anniversary gift list. Among the subjects of the modern list are: (1) clock, (2) china, (3) crystal or glass, (4) appliance, (5) silverware, (6) woodenware, (7) desk accessories, (8) linen or lace, (9) leather, (10) diamond jewellery, (11) fashion jewellery, (12) pearls, (13) textiles or furs, (14) gold jewellery, (15) watch, (20) platinum, (25) silver, (30) diamond jewellery, (35) jade, (40) ruby, (45) sapphire, (50) gold, (55) emerald, (60, 70, and 75) diamond.

Pearls - Some Basic Facts

Pearls have a longer history than gold or semi precious stones. The pearls are mentioned as early as 5000 BC in Egypt, and 3000 years back in the Vedic hymns in India. The exquisite beauty of a pearl was appreciated right from the pre-historic times. With time the shaping and creating pearl jewellery evolved in to a fine art form much appreciated by the royalty and treasured by the ladies in the royal families and the rich and famous of the world till today.

The worlds of dazzling pearls are not limited to round pearls as a layperson might imagine. They come in a variety of shapes from the tiny rice to large round pearls the size of 14-15mm. The shapes are baroque, rice, button flat, oval, drops, flat buttons and in many colors. Though the natural colors are mostly white, black, off pink and cream, the modern science has now been able to color them in as required.

A Pearl is produced when a substance called nacre is produced when an oyster encounters an irritant within its shell. When the nacre settles around the foreign substance which has been irritating an oyster it forms into a shiny smooth pearl. The nacre is composed of calcium carbonate and the thickness and iridescence decides the value of a pearl. Pearl and Coral are the only two precious substances produced organically. All other gems are inorganic products of nature.

Natural colors in pearls are more valued than the artificially colored varieties. The price of a pearl is determined by the diameter, color and shape. It is also determined by its luster and shine or iridescence. Based on these factors the pearl price can vary from a few dollars to hundred of thousands of dollars.

Whatever be the background of the pearls, it is treasured as the most fashionable jewellery by all irrespective of geographic location or income category and valued for it elegance and simplicity and beauty.

Rajalakshmi is a designer of fusion pearl jewellery. Her creations are widely admired and sought after as each piece is exclusive and personally crafted by her. Check out her blog at http://pearlsngifts.blogspot.com to learn more about pearls.

Gold Karats FAQ - 4 Essential Facts You Must Know About Karat Gold Before Making Your Next Purchase

This informative online gold karats FAQ (frequently ask questions) guide part 2 will give you the knowledge to not get ripped off next time you buy karat gold jewelery at an online jewelery store or at a regular jewelry store.

Gold Karats FAQ Guide - Part 2

There are many different types of gold available from regular jewelry stores and online jewelery stores in Australia and around the world. Understanding the difference will help you make a better informed decision when purchasing your next piece of fine karat gold jewelry.

This is why I've put together this gold karats FAQ guide. As there is quite a lot to this subject, I've broken the Gold Karats FAQ Guide into 3 parts. The other two parts can be found on my website which is displayed in the author bio at the end of this article.

Gold Colour

The first thing I want to explain to you in the gold karats FAQ guide is the different gold colours. The most common gold colours found at online jewelry stores & offline fine jewelery stores is yellow gold, followed by white gold and rose gold. There are other colours available but these are less common.

The colour of the gold doesn't make a difference to the gold content (karat rating). This is because the alloy has the same amount of gold in it. The gold is mixed with different metals to achieve different colours.

Yellow gold can vary in colour. 18k yellow gold will have a brighter yellow colour compared to 9k gold.

Rose gold is achieved normally by mixing pure gold with other metals such as cooper into it.

White gold is made by mixing pure gold with metals such as silver and palladium. It is often coated with a metal named "rhodium". The rhodium gives jewelery a really white appearance. White gold jewellery normally needs to re-rhodium coated every 12-18 months. Your local jewelry store and even some online jewelry stores can easily do this for a reasonable price.

When comparing metals of the same karat, white gold tends to be a little more expensive.

Gold Plated Jewelery (also known as GEP or GP)

Gold plated jewelery describes jewelery that has a layer of gold applied to a base metal by an electrolytic process. This gives a look similar to karat gold. The gold plating will wear off after time. Gold plated jewelery is a cheap alternative. This type of jewelery is widely available and can be found at online jewelery stores, online accessory stores and offline stores.

Gold Filled Jewellery (also known as Gold Overlay)

Gold filled jewelery is a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass. Gold filled jewelery is a great cost effective alternative to solid gold jewellery. Unlike gold plated jewellery, good quality gold filled jewelery wears as well as solid karat gold and has the same look and lustre. For more about solid gold jewelry, see gold karat FAQ guide part 1.

The layer of gold in gold filled jewelery must be 1/20th of the total weight of the product. This layer is 50 to 100,000 times thicker that gold plated jewelery.

Hardness

The difference in gold content also affects the gold's hardness. 18k gold is slightly harder than 9k gold but this difference in hardness offers little practical advantage as they are virtually the same hardness. However, overall, 18k gold does tend to wear a little better over the years. Most online jewellery stores & regular fine jewelery stores would advise you to choose 18k gold for a wedding band as it wears a little better.

Gold Karats FAQ Guide Conclusion

I hope you've learned a lot from this gold karats FAQ guide part 1. No doubt you'll be far more confident whether purchasing from an online jewelery store or a regular fine jewelry store. The other parts of my Gold Karats FAQ guide are available here at my website as outlined in the author bio at the bottom of this article.

Military Tattoo Designs - Tattoos For Soldiers and Others

Military tattoo designs have always been very common among those in the armed forces. Many people who have also lost loved ones that were in the military also honor them through a tattoo with a military design. In this article I want to tell you about military tattoo designs and where to find the best ones.

Perhaps the most well known military tattoo is the anchor symbol that is worn by many people who have served in the Navy. It is considered quite a tradition for someone either currently serving or someone who served in the past to display the anchor somewhere on their body.

The Navy is not the only branch of the military that uses tattoos frequently. Branches such as the Army, Marines, and Air Force also have signature tattoos that many people have. Usually these tattoos somehow involve the design of an American flag and an eagle.

Now, on to where you can find the best military tattoo designs for your next tattoo. Printable tattoo design databases have thousands of designs that can be browsed through and printed off whenever you want. All you have to do is join the database through its website and get access.

These printed out designs will be of the highest quality and your tattoo artist will enjoy working off of them. These databases eliminate a lot of wasted time that is usually used to find the perfect design and then get it printed. Plus, you can always go back and look for new designs when you seek to get a new tattoo.

I highly recommend using one of these services when looking for military tattoo designs. You will be happy with the results you see and the time you save by quickly finding the right design for you.

Florence Broadhurst - Born July 1899, Murdered October 1977

I have to write about this amazingly talented lady. Her influences on Australia and the world in the early 1900's was second to none. Her fabric designs are now as popular as they were back then. I am yet to purchase any fabric with her designs, but hope to in the future. My fabric wall hangings are crying out for the very fabric that I am about to mention. I can imagine these prints on the walls of the most elite homes, the grand old mansions that she would have once lived in herself I am sure.

There are five main collections for her designs to be found. If you are after pure elegance, you need to know about these. I will offer you one designs from each collection -

Black and White Collection - Aubrey

Borderline Collection - Japanese Floral

Home Collection - Japanese Bamboo

Originals Collection - Fingers

Woven Jacquard Collection - The Cranes

These fabric consist of 100% cottons or polyester/cotton blends with different % depending on the designs chosen. They come in widths starting at 137cm and retail here in Australia for approximately $143 AUD/metre

Florence Broadhurst produced some truly inspirational designs. She also had many other talents to add to her list of achievements. Singing, painting, wallpaper designs and sculpting. I felt sad to know that this women whom shone her outstanding talents on the world did not die of old age, she was murdered in Sydney Australia in 1977.

If you are looking for some fabrics that will be the envy of all, whether making curtains, cushions or even wall hangings like myself, please find a Florence Broadhurst design and explore the possibilities of what her designs would look like in your home or office. You will be drawn to the pure elegance, the sheer look of yesteryear is alive again.

Useful Advice for Buying Jewellery Online and How to Avoid Getting Ripped Off

So.... you want to buy jewellery over the internet?

You can get some really great deals by purchasing jewellery online.
Gold and precious stones are very expensive to purchase in New Zealand (and indeed many countries), and you'll find there are some great wholesale stores online, where the jewels are a fraction of the retail cost.

If you are looking to buy check out our directory for a good range (www.grizzlynut.co.nz). There are some fantastic shops that ship to New Zealand. I can assure you - once you find the right ones, you will never go back to shopping offline again - the selection and prices are fantastic.

But.... there are also some really awful buys online as well.

I was looking to buy some products to resell earlier this year and thought I would try an auction site & look for some Gold rings.

And WOW - the auction sites have some cheap rings - the pictures looked awesome, they were real gems, real gold - and they were only going to cost me $30 each ring to bring in to New Zealand (and that included shipping, customs & tax). I thought - "wohooo I'm on to a gold-mine here! I can sell these things for hundreds of dollars!!", and straight away I bought 3 rings from the one supplier. I mean - what could go wrong (after all the seller had a fantastic trader rating)?!?!?

WELL - when I got the rings (and the shipping was great - the rings arrived within 2 weeks), but when I opened the package the smug grin I'd been wearing for the last couple of weeks vanished - the gold was so thin you could have only worn them twice, the jewels were real - but they looked fake, were very badly cut & certainly didn't glisten in the sunlight! (Needless to say I did not make my millions from that venture).

Now - don't get me wrong - I'm not saying don't buy off auction sites (I've bought some stunning pieces of jewellery since then for fantastic prices) - just be careful (and use any pictures that they have as a guidance - the actual product may look completely different).
Don't rush into a purchase and buy a bulk load of goods. Purchase 1 ring - take note of how it is described, and do a full inspection when you get it. If it's a good buy - purchase in bulk. If not - you haven't wasted too much money.

And... this rule doesn't apply only to online auctions. It also applies to online stores.
You don't know whom is running the stores, and you can't visually see the goods (pictures may lie).
Don't take up the "buy in bulk & save loads of money" offer, or you may be kissing your hard earned moola away. Buy small - check out the goods, then go back for more.

My second piece of advice - Don't always go for the cheapest jewellery on the internet (but certainly don't go for the most expensive). Generally the cheaper the jewellery, the lower the quality of the product. Even if you are purchasing for resale, you want to be able to sell the product with honesty and integrity (I mean - if you think the ring is junk, you really shouldn't be selling it for a high price).

My third piece of advice - check out the jewellery store onine. Do a search on google, and see if anything bad comes up. Believe it or not I got scammed out of $US650 recently when I bought some bulk nappies for resale off an auction site and they didn't show - I did a search on the manufacturer afterwards to find 269,000 results which showed other people had been scammed) - if only I'd done that before wasting my money (which I still haven't got back by the way - so I'm not talking about that!!).
The one thing to remember during your search, is that some of the people giving the bad reports may be competitors (but I can assure you if you get 269,000 hits - SOMETHING IS WRONG!!)

There are some really good jewellery stores online that have fantastic prices, will ship to New Zealand, and are just overall great shops.

Some jewellery shops with great prices:

www.pugster.com - This is an international store. They have really great pricing (and a fantastic range) of italian charms I have ever seen. They do have free shipping if you spend over $US45 (but... remember my rules - just because I like them, they may not be to your liking)

www.bargainsforyouall.co.uk - This is another international store. They offer wholesale prices on jewellery and they Dropship if required!!

www.ringsandthings.co.nz - This is a New Zealand Store which I had to mention because the jewellery looks so stunning! If you are looking for gorgeous, and unusual jewellery that not everyone owns check this shop out - the prices are not wholesale but they are really good for what you are getting, and the items are unique.

www.echinastone.com - This is an international store. Are you looking to buy gemstones? Look no further! Very well priced, very nice - and free shipping if you sepnd over $US100 (I'm not going to repeat the shipping rule here...)

www.jgoodin.com - An international store with unbelievably low priced jewellery ...

That's it for this week.... Check back soon..

Don't get ripped off like me!!

Bracelets Through The Ages

The earliest bracelets date back to around 2500 BC and were those worn by the Sumerians in southern Mesopotamia. Bracelets, necklaces, anklets, finger rings and ear rings made the women of Sumer into show windows of their husband's prosperity. Bracelets were found in the tombs of Ur where it was customary to bury royalty with their jewellery and unfortunately their poor servants.

By about 2000 BC, in Ancient Egypt, bracelets emerged as major pieces of jewellery. Bracelets were found in the ruins from the Vesuvias eruption in Pompeii in 79 AD. It was during the age of the Egyptian Pharaohs that charm bracelets were first seen although charms themselves dated back as far as the Neolithic era when men would gather unusual bits of wood or pieces of stone which would be carried about their person in order to ward off their enemies. So these charms were considered ‘lucky charms’ and powerful protectors against evil. It wasn’t until the time of the Pharaohs though that these charms were incorporated into elaborate pieces of jewellery such as wrist and neck bracelets which were not only deemed to offer protection but were also a sign of how prosperous the person had been in life and after death would be an indicator to the Gods of this persons proper status in the after life.

In Grecian times bracelets were popular with men and soldiers wore defensive bands of leather, often decorated with gold, silver and or gemstones, on their forearms. They were known as ‘Bracels,’ from the Latin Brachium, meaning, ‘arm.’ When women caught on that these Bracels would look great on them, they started wearing smaller versions, called little Bracels...or ‘Bracel-ets.’

The history of bracelets stretches forward through the Middle Ages of medieval Europe through the Baroque period of the 18th century, and on right through to the present.

Throughout time, bracelets have been made from many different materials such as leather, iron, copper, beads, bone and teeth as well as precious metals and gemstone. Throughout the ages bracelets have always been popular and the styles seem to have varied according to dress styles. In cultures where people wore sleeveless or short sleeved attire such as the Romans and ancient Greeks, the wearing of bracelets both on the upper and lower arm became popular with both men and women. The wearing of upper arm bracelets is still popular today with modern fashionable skimpy clothing lending itself well to the wearing of more jewellery.

Today, bracelets are worn by both men and women in a variety of materials such as traditional precious metals like gold silver and platinum. Modern plastics and acrylics are now much used to make trendy, unusual bracelets as well as metals like titanium and zirconium which have become popular because they are hard wearing, very light and hypoallergenic. Whatever your tastes and whatever your budget, there is an enormous choice of bracelets and bangles to suit everyone.

Buying Diamonds & Engagement Rings in Australia

Diamonds are big business across the globe and Australia in particular has a huge diamonds industry operated by dependable traders who are part of the Diamond Dealers Club of Australia. Not everyone who deals in diamonds is a member of the Diamond Dealers Club. There is a strict screening of applicants to the club to make sure that they are dependable, ethical, and financially secure. This means that only the leading diamond dealers and merchants qualify for membership.

Diamonds, they say, are a girl's best friend, hardly surprising when you consider the amount of work that goes into mining them, and how much these diamonds are worth on the open market. However, it has not always been a simple matter to find a diamond engagement ring in a style that you want but, it is possible to buy a loose certified diamond and then have it set in a custom designed engagement ring for that special person.

Diamond Imports are a renowned founding member of the Diamond Dealers Club of Australia and are well known for their expertise in the jewellery industry and for the quality of their diamonds. As one of Australia's foremost dealers in diamonds the company is noted for the cut and quality of their diamonds - more importantly Diamond Imports make it their business to ensure that their clients have the knowledge to make an informed decision when choosing diamonds.

It is a simple matter to have a beautiful diamond that you want made up in a ring design of your choice because Diamond Imports sells certified loose diamonds and also have their own team of master jewelers. The company only deals in quality diamonds which are independently guaranteed and certified by compliant, internationally recognized diamond grading laboratories. In the Australian diamond business the name Diamond Imports is associated with the best quality and finest cut diamonds.

Diamond Imports will provide knowledge and education about their quality stones for customers looking to buy diamonds. They deal in loose diamonds, certified diamonds, wholesale diamonds as well as custom made diamond engagement rings, wedding rings and other jewellery.

When you have your loose diamond made into the ring of your choice by a reputable dealer such as Diamond Imports you won't have to just settle for a ready made ring or deal with a harried shop assistant who may not always be able to tell you very much about the diamond - when you buy your diamond from Diamond Imports you can rest assured that they will provide you with all the information you require concerning your diamond as well as a stunning hand made engagement ring.

Buying a diamond that is going to be made into an engagement ring is something that, hopefully, you only do once, so you want the best quality diamond you can afford. The cut of a diamond is extremely important and it is what gives a diamond its sparkle, fire and brilliance. The most popular cuts for engagement rings are round brilliant cut and princess cut diamonds. There are other fancy shape diamonds which are unique and very beautiful, these include the pear and oval cut, asscher and cushion cuts as well as radiant, trilliant, marquise and emerald cut diamonds.

The price of the loose diamond that you buy is determined by its clarity, cut, carat weight and color as well as the shape of the stone. When you buy loose diamonds that have been independently certified you can be assured of the quality and you don't have to depend on the pre-set designs on offer in most jewellery stores. Even those jewelers that carry loose stones have only a very limited number to choose from, which means you are restricted to the carat weight, color and cut that they have on offer. When you buy a diamond from a reputable diamond dealer like Diamond Imports you can be sure of the highest quality and a good selection of certified diamonds which you are able to compare and view before buying, which means that you always have a reliable investment and you buy diamonds with confidence.

A Rakhi Gift to Your Sister

Rakhi, is also known as Raksha Bandhan and it is commemorated for the special bond that lingers between a brother and sister. This relationship has been celebrated since ages and the occasion comes once a year. The date of Rakhi is not fixed; it is calculated as per Sharvan month's second festival as per the Hindu calendar. A Rakhi, or protective thread is tied on the wrist of the brother by the sister. The thread indicates brother's promise of protecting his sister in every possible manner, thus it is called Raksha (protection) Bandhan (bond).

Festivals have evolved over a period of time and the new age cultures have intruded. The culture of gifting your sister on Rakhi has grown and has become a huge business since the past few years. Array of choices are available as gifting options and increasingly new products are being used as gifts. Sending bunch of flowers is not what makes your sister happy. There are umpteen options to choose from that would suit your sister and her choice. A special gift on a special day for your sister would make her feel blissful.

There are varied options available for gifting your sister. For the teenagers it ranges from clothing to mobile phones to Mp3 players to their favored shopping place gift vouchers to jewellery and much more. It is important to know the preference of your sister well before gifting her. This will help you narrow down your search to better gifts for her. Most girls like jewellery but in what form is also important to know. Many girls are allergic to certain types of metals so be careful while you chose jewellery for her. Giving shopping vouchers of her favourite place would do wonders. If she likes shoes or clothing from a particular shop and she gets to purchase with a good credit then there is nothing else like it.

Searching and buying unique gifts online is more sensible as it gives better variants. There are customized options available and also scope for customization. Personalized services are offered by online sellers to meet the product requirement more efficiently. Thus online gift shops are a more convenient way of sending Rakhi gifts. A personalized card with the gift would make it a complete package and make your sister's day. Buying gifts online ensures utilization of time coupled with giving best gift for your sister.

Giving A Gift To A Loved One, Get Them To Expect The Unexpected

If you have been with your partner for a number of years you will understand what I mean when I say that the more you get to know them the less you understand them. How many times over the years have you celebrated your partners birthday by getting them what you thought would be the most wonderful present only for your partner to explain to you that you got it completely wrong in every way, shape and form. In situations like this when you think you couldn't be more right you probably will find that in reality you couldn't be more wrong.

That is the beauty of a close relationship; although you know the other person intimately you can never ever get to know them 100% as the human mind works in very mysterious ways. When you find yourself in this position what can you do to make it appear as though you knew exactly what your partner would want?

Present buying is always a hard task. Do you pick something that you are certain your partner craves only to get it wrong, do you ask your partner what they would like and appear even more like someone who does not understand their partner? Or do you just g with your intuition and try to find something that is nice and that your partner would like rather than something that they specifically need.

I have always found that things that people need they will tend to buy for themselves and things that they like are things that always go down best as a present. If you can find a gift that appears to be totally of the norm for what you would usually buy then even better still. When gift buying it really is the thought that counts, if you know that someone wants something or they have specifically asked you for it then you have shown no thought in that purchase, just followed instructions.

Some of the nicest gifts received are those little unique ones that are generally items that you would look at in a shop window and think how nice they are without ever having any intention of buying. These are the unique items to buy a loved one. If you are thinking of buying a gift for a female partner and you know she likes jewellery then rather than going to a run of the mill jeweller why not try to seek out a bespoke jeweller who may be able to point out a unique piece of jewellery or even an antique piece that will be totally different from anything else someone may have.

This may be a predictable gift in as much as it is a piece of jewellery but an antique piece of jewellery or a totally unique piece is a whole different ball game. When looking for a unique gift for him why not look out for old sporting memorabilia from his favourite team or sport? These are readily available but can make a great gift as it is generally something that he would not buy for himself. Another unique gift for him maybe a bespoke item of dress jewellery such as a handmade set of cuff-links, again these are readily available but not on the scale of being mass produced. So when the next gift giving time comes around and your partner is expecting the usually sort of gift make them realise that they should expect the unexpected from now on.

Jewelery Making Courses

Getting Creative

If you are passionate about jewellery of all different shapes and sizes. A jewelery making course is a fantastic opportunity to be creative and achieve a tangible result that you can wear and enjoy. It will also give you an insight into the micro engineering that goes into producing the glitz and glam we love.

Jewellery Design Course

The course that I attended was a 3 hour taster entitled ‘Make something for someone special, including yourself!’ and was run by Lancashire-business designed for you. The course was welcoming, inclusive and aimed at adults, both male and female. Course costs covered the supply of all tools and beads needed to make a piece of jewelery as well as general tuition and one-on-one support.

Learning Curve

Before getting stuck in with the beads and the pliers we were given some essential design information about health and safety; the pros and cons of symmetrical and or repeating designs as opposed to asymmetrical and or random designs; and where to buy further materials both locally and online.

The course leader told us that to make a really successful piece of jewelery we needed to think about some simple but key questions: who is the jewelery for?; what size does it need to be?; what individual tastes (colours, materials, lifestyle choices) do I need to take into account?

Then we were given the freedom to let rip and have fun. We were encouraged to produce as many or as few pieces (necklaces, earrings, bracelets, chokers) as we wanted in the time.

Bead Bonanza!

Although a blank space (whether a page or a beading mat) can be daunting, its absolutely amazing what comes out of your head and becomes a tangible design in front of you as soon as you’re let loose. Designed for you provided an enormous range of beads to use in terms of size and colour. There was communal absorption and sense of discovery searching through for the perfect selection of beads. We soon found that the best way to make jewelery was not to be afraid but to just start making a mock-up and by testing designs using beading mats or by stringing/restringing beads before choosing s final design.

The process of trial and error quickly taught us a lot more about jewelery design with beads. For example, small changes can make an enormous difference to colour and presentation. e.g. tiny seed beads can be use to provide a little extra space in a design, helping to prevent an appearance of cramping, overcrowding and fussiness. They can also be carefully selected according to colour and used to ‘bring out’ or emphasise other beads in your creation.

We also had an opportunity to try out jewelery making techniques for ourselves. Different techniques are used to produce different results in finished products or are used to manipulate certain materials. Because I chose to create a necklace from combinations of soft turquoise and shell beads, I learned how to mount them on a silk thread by tying a knot in the silk between each individual bead. The knotted silk prevents abrasion between the delicate beads. Using a silk thread also meant that I had to learn how to finish my piece with knot covers to conceal the terminal knots on the necklace thread.

Matching Set
Following the jewelery course, I was inspired by my original necklace creation to go on and make a pair of earrings to match. I used the design skills I had learned to create earrings that echoed the necklace without slavishly replicating the design. My jewelery set has had many outings and is much admired. Wearing it is a joyful experience, all the more satisfying for being both a unique piece, designed and made by me.

I’d recommend all jewelery fanatics and everyone in need of a little creative space to get out there and get making. A quick search of the internet will help you to find all sorts of jewelery courses specialising in different areas and techniques.

Diwali Gifts - A Source of Joy For Everyone

At first glance, "free" looks pretty good, right? Websites that offer free designs (and there are many) usually base what they offer on artwork that is "donated" to their free flash selection. Dichroic Glass Jewellery - What Is It And Where Can I Get Some?

Dichroic glass is a clever discovery brought to us by those boffins at NASA. It's a metal oxide coating on glass that has unique properties. It can allow through it one way but can block it coming through on the reverse side. That all sounds very dull but basically it makes things shimmer. The metal oxide coatings come in a wide range of stunning colours and with this unique play with light, they look simply stunning as items of jewellery.

There are a few ways to spot genuine dichroic glass. Because the light acts so remarkably on the surface it can appear to change colour when you view the piece from an angle. Exposed dichroic glass, that is, dichroic without a clear top layer will appear to be metallic even though it is glass.

Dichroic Jewellery like all types of fused glass is produced in a kiln. Glass fusers use specifically designed kilns that are thinner than the types used by ceramic artists generally because the items produced by glass fusers are thinner and the firing cycle means it is more economical to do so.

The are a great many ways to buy dichroic glass. Online retails such as Etsy and Ebay have a wide range of dichroic items on sale however care must be taken to check the sellers reputation as there are a great number of fake item on the market introduced from the Asian market. The best way of purchasing a genuine piece of dichroic is by going to a supplier and checking their links page for dichroic glass studios.

Angel Tattoo Designs - Looking for Great Angel Tattoo Designs?

Angel Tattoo Designs, Meanings, Ideas, plus Great Places to Find Designs

The word "angel" comes from Greek word "angelos" which means "messenger", referring to a messenger of God. Angels are important supernatural beings found in many religions including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Zoroastrianism. Angels are thought to have set duties, with no free will or choice. For this reason, human beings are considered to be superior beings since humans have the ability to "be righteous" out of our own free will, rather than simply being "programmed" to be so.

Due to their connection to God, Angel Tattoo Designs commonly represent protection and guardianship. Another associated meaning is the everlasting struggle between good and evil (angel vs. archangel), which could represent ones outlook on his or her own life. Angels also have the ability to connect the spiritual and material world, and so these tattoos could symbolize connecting oneself with the spiritual world. Another common meaning underlying an angel design is remembrance of a lost loved one.

Popular designs include those of elegant winged creatures, flying or sitting on a cloud. Some designs may be soothing and calming in which the angel is seen holding a harp or trumpet, where as other designs may be more vulgar depicting angels holding a sword or dagger (Archangels). The best thing about angel tattoo designs is their versatility and the ability to implement them in a setting which best depicts what it is you want to say.

Angel tattoos are the most commonly searched for tattoo designs on the net, outranking other favourite designs including dragons, flowers, stars, fairies, butterflies, animals, crosses, and more.

The Total Tattoo Book for Your Tattoo Design

A total tattoo book to find your ideal tattoo design can be found in these three places:

1. Tattoo parlor. All parlors will contain a total tattoo book filled with many designs as well as photographs from freshly tattooed individuals.

The advantages are that you get to see the type of tattoos that the parlor can do, and you can see how they turned out and how they look on individuals.

The negatives are that you can't take the total tattoo book home with you and you're confined to looking at it in the parlor. This can be a hassle and can lead to you making several visits back to the parlor to have another look at designs.

2. The bookstore. A visit to the bookstore should bring up a number of total tattoo books with numerous designs. Also, the magazine section at the bookstore should contain at least a few tattoo magazines which will have designs in them and photographs as well.

While you are able to purchase these books and magazines and bring them home, you may only be getting a partial look at all tattoo designs, and it may end up not being the total tattoo book you're looking for. Many books are at least a few years old, some several years old, thus you are missing out on many of the current design options available.

3. An Online Tattoo Book or Tattoo Website. The internet offers up a unique opportunity to not only view random tattoo designs which other people have gotten, but also you have the opportunity to view tattoos from an online tattoo book or tattoo website, which constantly updates it's designs, as well as providing old school designs and hundreds of other tattoo designs to choose from.

Chess McDoogle has discovered an incredible collection of online tattoo designs in which to choose from. He reveals the online total tattoo book resource at http://www.tattoo-book.info

Here you can learn how to find a great tattoo design which you can use for free, see http://www.tattoo-book.info and thanks for reading.

Titanium Rings: The Real Reason Why Men Love Them

Everywhere you look, people sell the user benefits of titanium…. strength, scratch resistance, hypo allergenic but I think they are all missing the real point. We sell four times the quantity of titanium rings to every steel ring, but they are virtually identical except for a slight difference in colour. So why are men so drawn to titanium rings?

The answer lies in the very word ‘Titanium’ and the reassuringly masculine emotions that it conjures up. For instance, the base of the word itself, Titan conjures up ideas of titanic brute strength. The ’ium’ bit some how makes the word a bit more tecky and exotic. Then there are the real life applications that Titanium is used for. Engineers use Titanium because of its very high strength to weight properties especially in the aerospace industry and other super tecky, masculine applications. This gives a hint of cutting edge and ’latest design’ giving even more social kudos. Even the finish men like, matt grey, allows for more a masculine expression. Only the sleek, minimalist designs give a small concession to sophistication and feminine elegance.

All this gives a Titanium ring the perfect mix of masculine emotions to give men the reassurance to wear jewellery. (You know its’ true!)
