Gold Body Piercing Jewelry

If your body rejects your new piercing, normally this is due to a reaction from your body to the kind of jewelery used in the piercing. The most common reason for this rejection is allergy. Your body does not accept the foreign body, and in this case there is little or nothing you can do aside from cleaning and taking care of the piercing. If that doesn't work, as a last resource you should remove the jewelery and let the wound heal. Later on you can try again using jewelery made of better quality metal.

The quality of the metal used is the most important factor in these cases of piercing rejection. The best material you can use is surgical stainless steel or gold (not lower than 14 carats, and if possible, 18 carats) and platinum. Right now the metal most widely used in piercing is good quality surgical stainless steel which is the best way to avoid your body rejecting the piercing.

An easy way to check out if the jewelery you are planning to buy for your piercing is surgical stainless steel or not, is to take a little magnet with you (for example a fridge magnet). Good quality surgical stainless steel and good quality gold jewelery are not magnetic, so if when you touch the jewelery with your magnet it sticks to the magnet, don't buy it, because it is a low quality piece of jewelery made of some other kind of metal (like iron) which will most likely be rejected by your body. Good quality surgical stainless steel and gold definitely are NON MAGNETIC and although this doesn't give you a 100% guarantee, it is unlikely that your body will reject the piercing.

After the wound is completely healed, you can try a fancier and lower quality piece of jewelery, but if after a time you see redness or an infection begins to appear, the best thing to do is to remove the piece and replace it with a good quality surgical stainless steel piece of jewelery and take care of the skin with an appropriate disinfectant, recommended by the piercer.

If you notice that your body rejects even a good quality piece of jewelery, talk to your piercer who can advise you about other alternatives you can try for your particular kind of skin.

If the piece of jewelery has some kind of plastic in its composition, you must be sure to use it in a piercing that is already healed, because this kind of jewelery can cause infection in a fresh piercing. If the jewellery is made of colored surgical stainless steel, that's OK as long as it is good quality, because the color is involved in the chemical reaction that takes place when the jewellery is created.

Piercing is a mark of personal style, creativeness and an expression of uniqueness as well as a way of enjoying beautiful jewellery. Today it is one of the fastest growing trends as a way of embellishing the body. Studs, rings and chains for every part of the body (belly button, eyebrows, tongue, nose, toes, and ears) are designed to add a touch of style, make a fashion statement or follow trends set by celebrities.
